Botox, approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in 2002, blocks the nerve impulses that cause muscle contractions. You may feel some slight discomfort from the injections during the procedure, but anesthetics applied before, and sometimes during, the procedure will minimize this discomfort.
In general, the recovery time is minimal, with some slight redness, swelling, bruising and discomfort occurring in some people. Ice packs and over-the-counter medications can be used to treat these after-effects.
Most men and women resume their regular activities right after their procedures. There may be temporary swelling and perhaps minor bruising that can be circumvented (call us to find out how), which can be easily covered with makeup.
