How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?
Most areas require 6 to 8 laser hair removal treatments. The number of laser hair removal treatments you will require for optimal results depends on multiple factors, including the thickness of the hair, the area that is being treated, and your hair’s growth cycle. While all hair grows in three phases – growth, regression, and resting - not all hairs in the same area are actively growing at the same time. Laser hair removal treatments work by damaging the follicles of hairs that are actively growing at the time of treatment. Because some hairs will be in regression or resting during treatment, multiple treatments may be necessary to treat all of the actively growing hair follicles in a particular treatment area.
What happens after the laser hair removal treatment?
Immediately following a laser hair removal treatment, the treated area may appear a bit red and swollen. 3 to 7 days after treatment some people experience what appears to be regrowth of hair. What is actually happening is that most of these hairs are shedding as a result of your treatment, and are not regrowing. Between your laser hair removal treatments, you should not pluck or wax your hair.
What are the possible side effects of laser hair removal?
Most clients don’t experience any side effects other than a slight reddening and swelling in the treated area. The redness and minor swelling usually goes away in the first several hours after treatment. Your licensed laser technician will review all the potential risks and side effects with you prior to your first treatment.
